It’s well known that many footballers earn more in a week than
the average person earns in a whole year.
They always want the biggest and the best when it comes to cars
and houses. So it is no surprise that footballers’ cars range from many models
all over the world and cost what an ordinary person makes in a five years.
It’s so hard to keep up with footballers’ cars as they change
them every now and then. Customisation is one of their favourite things. Custom
colors, specially designed rims, customized interiors, and massive sound
systems are just some of the many modifications that have become popular among
footballers.
According to research from auditing and consulting company
Deloitte, it shows how much money is floating around this particular sport, and
the reason that the most successful soccer players will want to flash their
cash on the road.
Here is a list of cars mega-rich footballers have owned or still own:
#1 Wayne Rooney
Manchester United and England striker Wayne Rooney is
one of many footballers who own the popular Range Rover 4×4, which is worth in
the region of £100 000. He also has a Lamborghini Gallardo, Bentley Continental
GT, Aston Martin Vanquish and BMW M6 in his motoring stable. Now Wayne Rooney
wants a Mercedes McLaren SLR convertible with red seats.
#2 Steven Pienaar
One Bafana Bafana midfielder is determined to have the best of
both worlds. Steven
Pienaar has chosen to plumb for a very black Aston Martin DB9 for
occasions that call for power and panache in equal helpings. When he’s feeling
more urban and wants to shoot a little more pimp to his motoring juice, the
28-year-old will no doubt fire up his intimidating Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen –
one of the most capable 4×4 vehicles ever made. The formidable G-Class shows
that Pienaar goes against the grain, as most of his peers would have rather
garaged the ubiquitous Audi Q7 and/or BMW X5. Respect young man.
#3 Teko Modise
Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Teko Modise,
also known as the General, has been an instrumental player for his team and in
many of Bafana Bafana's international matches. Besides being one of the best
players, he also has a weakness for luxurious cars. In 2009 he was driving a
BMW645. He also owned an Audi RS4 at the time. Now he drives an Aston Martin
DB9, Bentley and a Range Rover.
#4 Claude Makelele
Claude
Makelele had one of the most expensive motors in the Stamford Bridge car
park – a £350 000 Mercedes McLaren SLR. The SLR hypercar will hit a colossal
207mph. Other cars in his stable include a Ferrari 360 supercar and a Mercedes
SL65 AMG - a £150 000 convertible with a more-than-adequate 612bhp and 737lb/ft
of pulling power.
#5 Steven Gerrard,Dider Drogba,Theo Walcott & John Terry
Liverpool’s Steven
Gerrard and Chelsea striker Dider
Drogba both own Ferrari F40s worth over £130 000. Tottenham’s Jermain Defoe and
Arsenal winger Theo
Walcott are two high-profile players who paid over £100 000 for an Aston
Martin DB9. Chelsea captain John Terry boasts
a Bentley Continental GT among his fleet of cars.
#6 Cristiano Ronaldo
Cristiano
Ronaldo has an Aston Martin DB9, two Ferrari 599 GTB’s, Audi R8, Porsche
911 Carrera Triptonic S, Bentley Continental GTS, Phantom Rolls Royce and the
BMW M6. Rolls Royce Phantom is the most expensive car in his fleet worth €340
000.
#7 Mario Balotelli
Football’s bad boy Mario
Balotelli is often seen roaming the
streets of Manchester handing out £50 pound notes in his Maserati GT. He also own a Audi R8.
